Back Yard Blues Band

Do we have any classic rock n roll and blues fans out there? You are in for a treat because we have none other than Mr. Mario Valens visiting all the way from San Jose, California … Mario happens to be from the famous rock ‘n’ roll Valens family. Mario is none other than Ritchie Valens younger brother. You might remember Ritchie Valens from the 1950s as he was the famous rock ‘n’ roll artist who sang the song La Bamba, and even had a movie done about his life starring Lou Diamond Phillips. The Backyard Blues Band is Mario Valens on harp and vocals, Mike Baldwin on guitar and vocals. The combination of Mario and Mike have been the core of this band for over two decades and together have written dozens of songs derived from the stories, adventures, and misadventures from their lives and the countless backyard bonfire parties. When these stories are put to the Backyard style of Blues Infused/Rock n Roll music you get some Backyard Boogie. Mario and Mike call BBB music "Salsipuedes,Mexibilly, Blues Infused Rock n Roll". Over the years The Backyard Blues Band has had the privilege of sharing the stage with such greats as Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, the late John Lee Hooker, John Lee Hooker Jr, Joe Louis Walker, Canned Heat, George Thorogood, Foghat, John Kay and Steppenwolf, Blue Oyster Cult, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, the late Link Wray, Tommy Allsup of the original Crickets, and many others. Take a minute and listen to the hard hitting original music of the Backyard Blues Band, as well as their distinctive covers of Brother Ritchies hits. You will feel the passion in the music that is so apparent in their energetic stage presence and showmanship.
